Baby and Toddler Sleep Help: Using a Baby Night Light and a Toddler Alarm Clock

Rest+ Ultimate Smart Sleep Machine

If you’re looking to improve your child’s sleep, using a night light and toddler alarm clock can be incredibly helpful. Allow me to guide you in selecting the perfect light and teach you how to use it effectively.

At what age should a child need a night light?

Wait until your child is at least two years old before introducing a night light as children younger than this age do not typically experience nighttime fears. Only use a night light if your child is actually experiencing such fears. Unless you need a night light for check-ins, keep the space where your baby sleeps dark, whether it’s your room or theirs.

How to use a toddler alarm clock

Having a toddler alarm clock can be beneficial in two ways. First, it can provide a sense of security to your child in case of nightmares and fear of the dark. Second, it can help with those early morning wake-ups! If your child can recognize and name colors, you can program the clock to stay a specific color throughout the night and switch to green at the desired wake-up time. Encourage your child to remain in bed or to wait to call for you until the color changes.

What color should your baby’s night light and toddler alarm clock be

Steer clear of blue light! It inhibits the production of melatonin in our brains, causing disruption to our sleep patterns. To promote better sleep, it is recommended to use warm colors such as yellow and orange, with red light being the most effective in promoting sleep.

At Not A Peep, we love the Hatch Rest +! We have personally tested and used it, and our clients have also raved about it. This light grows with your child, serving as both a night light and a toddler alarm clock, and even includes a built-in white noise machine. With the convenience of controlling the sounds and light color through your cell phone, it’s a must-have for any parent.
